From January 1, 2026, the Spanish Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT) in Spain will introduce a new safety regulation: emergency triangles will no longer be valid.
From that date, all vehicles must carry and use a DGT-approved V16 light beacon to signal breakdowns or accidents on the road.
In your Wiber car you will already find a V16 beacon ready to use in the glove compartment, with no need to buy anything extra.
Until now, in the event of a breakdown or accident, drivers had to place emergency triangles outside the vehicle.
From 2026, it will no longer be necessary to leave the car.
The V16 light beacon allows you to signal an incident without leaving the vehicle, reducing the risk of being hit.
In addition, it sends a geolocated signal to the DGT 3.0 platform, which alerts other drivers and emergency services to your location.
Stop in a safe place, off the road whenever possible, and turn on the hazard lights.
Press the power button so it starts flashing. If it has no batteries, open the cover and insert the AA batteries following the diagram inside.
Lower the window and use your arm to place the beacon on the roof. The magnetic base will attach automatically. Do not get out of the vehicle: this way you avoid the risk of being hit.
The beacon must emit a flashing yellow light, visible in 360º and up to 1 km away. If it flashes correctly, your vehicle is properly signaled.
Thanks to its geolocation system, the beacon will send your position to the DGT 3.0 platform so other drivers and emergency services are aware of the incident.
Call the Wiber customer service number (+34 964 010 000) and wait inside the car, as long as it is safe to do so. Our team will assist you as soon as possible.
Thank you for helping us make the roads safer.
