Wiber Rent A Car

If there’s one way to discover the real Mallorca, it’s through its villages. Nestled among mountains, hidden coves and secondary roads, the island conceals magical places that don’t appear in every postcard.

With your Wiber rental car, we propose a route through Mallorca’s most beautiful villages—designed for lovers of road trips, photography, and soulful corners.

Villages of Mallorca: our local, stress-free route

Mallorca is not just beaches and crystal-clear coves. Beyond the coast, the interior of the island is dotted with gems that seem frozen in time. The pretty villages of Mallorca offer another side of the Mediterranean: the more peaceful, cultural, and photogenic one.

Here’s our selection of charming villages in Mallorca, ideal for a road-trip escape. A circular route from Palma, perfect for a 2- or 3-day getaway. Great for those looking for beautiful villages around Palma de Mallorca without falling into the most crowded spots.

1. Esporles – Mallorcan tradition in the Serra de Tramuntana

Located just 20 minutes from Palma, Esporles is one of Mallorca’s prettiest villages and still retains a valued local charm. Surrounded by mountains, with stone houses and a lovely church, it’s ideal for strolling without hurry and enjoying a café in the village square.

👉 Local tip: Visit the Saturday morning market or the ethnological museum “La Granja,” which showcases traditional rural life.

2. Valldemossa – The most photogenic village (with musical history)

This is undoubtedly one of the prettiest villages of Mallorca seen most on social media, but we include it because it truly deserves every visit. Narrow alleys filled with flowers, cobbled facades, and the Charterhouse of Valldemossa. Chopin and George Sand lived here, and that artistic and romantic air still lingers. Arriving early in the morning or late in the day is key to avoiding crowds.

👉 Did you know many locals consider it the prettiest village in Mallorca? And if you try a potato coca with hot chocolate, you’ll understand why we say that here everything tastes better.

3. Banyalbufar – Vineyards overlooking the sea

This village, terraced on the sea, is a well-kept secret. Its famous agricultural terraces built by the Arabs, together with the endless view of the Mediterranean, make it one of the most beautiful villages on Mallorca’s west side.

👉 Best moment: sunset. Drive up, park near the main viewpoint, and enjoy the sun sinking into the sea.

4. Estellencs – Serene Mediterranean living

Smaller than Banyalbufar, Estellencs offers pure tranquility. Its rocky cove is perfect for swimming off-season, and its atmosphere is 100% local. Definitely one of the beautiful villages to see in Mallorca if you want to escape the crowds.

5. Fornalutx – A village among orange groves and mountains

Named multiple times as one of Spain’s prettiest villages, Fornalutx is one of those places where time seems to stand still. Nestled in the Serra de Tramuntana and citrus groves, its central square is ideal for a vermouth with views of the mountains.

👉 If you wonder which is the prettiest village in Mallorca, this one is surely in the top. From here you can hike to the Barranc de Biniaraix or visit Sóller nearby.

6. Biniaraix – Small, quiet, unforgettable

Just a stone’s throw from Fornalutx lies this hidden gem. If you like authenticity, Biniaraix is one of those charming Mallorca villages that look like they belong in a fairytale. Few tourists, pristine traditional architecture, and access to one of the island’s most spectacular hiking routes.

This is one of those charming Mallorca villages not appearing in every guidebook, but that stays in the heart.

7. Capdepera – Walls, history, and Mediterranean views

In the east of the island, Capdepera blends the best of a medieval village in Mallorca with sea views. Its castle is a little-known gem and offers spectacular panoramas. Plus, it’s close to Cala Mesquida, one of the wilder beaches.

8. Artà – Culture, caves, and Mallorcan cuisine

We end the route in Artà, one of the villages you should see in Mallorca if you love culture and good food. It has one of the island’s best gastronomic offerings, a charming old town, and access to the Caves of Artà—one of Mallorca’s lesser-known beautiful places.

9. Portocolom – Between tradition and dreamy coves

Portocolom is one of Mallorca’s most beautiful coastal villages. Though somewhat larger, its old port area retains the charm of a fishing village. It’s said Christopher Columbus was born here, and today it’s ideal for strolling, enjoying a drink by the sea, or discovering nearby coves like S’Arenal or Cala Marçal.

10. Santanyí – Art, markets, and good food

In the southeast of the island, Santanyí stands out for its creative energy and golden architecture. One of the best villages to visit in Mallorca if you like art, design and gastronomy. Its streets are full of galleries, local shops and restaurants offering locally sourced produce. The town center is delightful and is surrounded by coves like Cala Llombards and Cala Santanyí—perfect for a dip after your walk. From here you can also reach spectacular coves in minutes.

Two villages close to Santanyí are Es Llombards and Ses Salines, hardly crowded. Here you feel the spirit of slow Mallorca. Family-run restaurants, calm streets and an ideal setting for unplugging. If you’re looking for beautiful inland villages in Mallorca, take note.

👉 Bonus: every Wednesday and Saturday there’s a market with local produce and crafts. Perfect for a slow lunch.

11. Cala Figuera – A postcard harbour

Near Santanyí lies Cala Figuera, a small fishing harbour filled with white houses, traditional boats (llauts) and a charming maritime atmosphere. This corner has stayed away from mass tourism, preserving its essence.

👉 Tip: visit in the late afternoon, when fishermen return from the day’s work, and enjoy fresh fish for dinner.
